La Malbaie-Pointe-Au-Pic

Le Richelieu Bed & Breakfast is located in La Malbaie, in the borough of Pointe-Au-Pic.

In 1608 Samuel de Champlain (The Father of "New France") dubbed the bay area La Malbaie (the Bad Bay) when his vessel became trapped on the shore of the St. Lawrence, as the tide pulled out.

The name of the settlement Pointe-Au-Pic, or "Peak Point" was derived from the rocky headland that juts out into the Saint-Lawrence River.
